The 4 x 4 x 48 Challenge was first created by David Goggins, a famous American ultra marathon runner in 2020 and involves running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
It is said to be a true test of endurance and mental strength and is certainly not for the fainthearted.
In taking on the challenge, Declan saw the opportunity to push himself to the limit whilst also raising money for a worthy cause.
Declan said “There are an estimated 121,000 homeless young people in the UK and Centrepoint supports them with food, training and housing. For me, the need to constantly challenge myself is all about personal growth but helping other people is also very rewarding and I am extremely grateful to the many people who supported me and this great cause.”
Declan and his friends raised over £7,000 for Centrepoint and he is now training for his first London marathon in October.
